The City Council announces the 6th 'Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol' Open Air Quick Painting Competition
This art competition will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Estepona City Council announces the call for entries for the 6th 'Estepona, Garden of the Coast' Open Air Quick Painting Competition, whose objective is to promote artistic creation and disseminate the landscape and urban heritage of the municipality.
The competition will be held next Saturday, May 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Anyone over the age of 16 may participate.
Participants must create a painting within the designated time frame and within the municipality. The subject matter must be any landscape, corner, or recognizable motif of Estepona. Painting on establishment terraces or obstructing access to homes or businesses is not permitted. The artist's physical presence at the location is mandatory.
The technique will be free and each participant must provide all the necessary materials for the creation of the work.
Regarding the format, the support must be rigid or properly mounted on a frame. The dimensions will be 50x70 centimeters. The artwork must be presented with an easel and hanging system (hook or similar), all provided by the participant.
The surfaces on which participants will work will be stamped by the competition organizers on the day of the event, starting at 8:45 a.m. at the Casa de Las Tejerinas (Plaza de Las Flores). Each participant may have a maximum of two surfaces stamped, but may only submit one artwork to the competition. The registration form must be completed and submitted starting at 8:45 a.m. on the same day.
The completed works can be submitted at the Casa de Las Tejerinas from the start of the competition until 2:00 p.m., a non-extendable deadline.
The competition jury will be composed of individuals of recognized prestige in the artistic field. A representative of the City Council will act as secretary, with voice but without vote.
The jury's decision will be announced at approximately 2:30 p.m. and will be final. The awards ceremony will follow.
The winning works will become part of the municipal art collection of the Estepona City Council.
The selected works will be exhibited at the Casa de Las Tejerinas between June 1st and 15th, 2026.
Unawarded works may be collected by their authors after the jury's decision, except for works selected for the exhibition, which will be collected once the exhibition has ended. If these works are not collected within fifteen calendar days, the Estepona City Council may dispose of them as it sees fit.
The competition establishes the following prizes:
-First prize: 600 euros
-Second prize: 300 euros.
In addition, a certificate will be awarded to the ten finalist works.
