The City Council organizes chess games on the boards of the Paseo MarÃtimo all summer
The free activity 'Play with us' will be open to the public from July 5 to August 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The Estepona City Council informs that the Municipal Chess School (EMAE) organizes, one more summer, chess games on the seafront. The 'Play with Us' activity is free and open to all who wish to do so.
It will take place in the area of the giant chess boards, from July 5 to August 27, from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., under the supervision of the EMAE professor, Miguel Abril. Like last summer, the activity will take place in compliance with the recommendations of the health authorities.
In addition to the table tops for quick games, the six new large format boards will be available located in the recently remodeled section of the promenade, whose giant pieces, 55 centimeters long, are made of pressed plastic.
This activity is part of the Chess Promotion Plan launched by the Estepona City Council in 2011 and which has allowed, as a pioneering educational experience, that all children born after 2004 have received training to learn to play chess. In this way, some 8,000 students have approached this game, which offers important intellectual benefits to those who practice it.
Specifically, the practice of chess brings important benefits for children, since it exercises and improves their memory, concentration, creativity and logic and even helps them solve problems and advance reading comprehension.
