HOUSE OF THE TEJERINAS ESTEPONA

Exhibition: jos㉠manuel lã“pez toirãn

The Estepona City Council informs that Room 1 and the Patio of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host the exhibition of José's sculptures from next Monday, January 18, at 4:30 p.m. Manuel López Toirán.

Curated by the Estación 2B Cultural Association and the municipal delegation of Historical Heritage, the exhibition consists of 15 pieces carved in wood and 10 painted wall planks. It can be visited until February 10, from Tuesday to Saturday, from 09:00 to 20:00, with free access, complying with anticovid measures.

José Manuel Toirán is not an ordinary artist. A native of Sarria, Lugo (Galicia), as a child he made sculptures with plasticine and, as a teenager, assumes his own creativity in the school of mosaics of Padre San Millán. He declares himself self-taught and universal in influences, melting pot of life experiences that he accumulates from delineation studies to business practice in the world of construction, through real estate management and contact with peripheral worlds and border cultures in Cuba, Algeria. , Morocco, Senegal or Guinea Bisau. Toirán is in love with design - his profession for more than a quarter of a century - with the purity of lines and the tangled contours of the world.

José Manuel López Toirán's work is a tribute to nature. It is expressed with preference, although not exclusively, with wood as a noble material above all things. The artist delves into the collective imagination based on his own psyche, talent and taste. Nothing is random in the execution or in the result. Everything responds to a mental program with stations of departure and arrival in nature as the great path of life.
